In Ann Arbor, Michigan she began her Suzuki training, ran a private violin studio, and performed with the Ann Arbor, Flint, Saginaw, Lansing and Toledo Symphony orchestras as well as the Michigan Opera Theater. For the past 17 years, Ruth has made her home in Salt Lake City where she runs a full Suzuki violin and viola studio, performs with the orchestra for Ballet West, and participates in the Suzuki Association of Utah. Ruth is married to Kevin M. Godfrey, interior designer. She is stepmom to their 6 children and Grandma Ruth to two adorable granddaughters. Since moving to Utah Ruth has become an avid skier, hiker and scuba diver. Miss Ruth is committed to her ongoing teacher improvement through long and short term training. She teaches at the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute and participates in the Utah Federation of Music Clubs annual Festival.

Ruth Ann Godfrey received her Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from San Francisco State University and her Masters in Music from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Her career has taken her from California where she has been a member of the Santa Rosa and the Sacramento Symphony orchestras to Arizona where she performed in the Tucson Symphony. For nine years Ruth was a member of the orchestra of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Italy. During this time the orchestra of the Teatro Dell'Opera was featured in the seminal Three Tenors concert in July of 1990 at the historic Baths of Caracalla in Rome.
